A few minutes ago somebody rang my doorbell. And I didn't answer it because I was here. Then there was knocking. I worried it was my elderly next door neighbor having some kind of issue. If I didn't answer - I'd feel guilty. As I went to the door through the window I could see it was an old couple I didn't know. Great. A few weeks ago the Mormons also did the shtick where they ring the doorbell and knocked too. I might put up a "no soliciting" sign. I really hate this shit.

When I opened the door there was a package right there. I really wondered what was up. It turned out they it that out of the rain and they were with the democratic party. After a few seconds I let them know I wasn't interested and I thanked them for moving my package. So far - no story.

Then I went out to my mailbox and there was a handwritten postcard in cursive with a stamp and a postmark and my address also handwritten.

Dear InevitableSwing,

Thank you for being a voter. Who you vote for is private, but whether you wrote is public record. Please vote in the Tues Nov 5 election.

John

I'm mystified how the postcard has a postmark. Maybe it's fake? The couple's efforts annoyed me and sort of creeped me out.

I meant one of these signs.

I just realized I was so freaked out - I missed a possible obvious solution to the postcard mystery. It was dumb luck. Maybe they sent it yesterday or two days ago. (1) I happened to get the postcard in the mail today. (2) They happened to show up after my mail was delivered and not before.

Mood. I get annoying Jehovah's Witnesses all the time since their church is close to my neighborhood. I always opt against the "no soliciting" sign since I don't want to feel like a ancap-good crank or whatever. Plus, I feel like the religious and political door knockers will just ignore it since they're not "selling" something.

This is what liberals do for organizing - look up your name on the public voting record and bother you until you i-voted. They act like they don't care who you vote for, but assume if they mobilize enough people that it'll tilt the scale for the-democrat.

I feel like religious evangelists have so little shame and think they're seriously on a mission from god that they'd ignore something like that lol

They don't do it to everybody, just whoever is on their targets list. There's a voter file with a "Dem Score" for each person based on voting history, party registration, and then a bunch of consumer data the DNC pays for. There's a "turnout score" for estimating how likely people are to vote.

Typical GOTV universe starts by narrowing down to people between 50-70 on support and 70+ on turnout scores.

Congrats, OP! You're on the GOTV list... enjoy getting harassed endlessly until you vote pete
