It's like they absorb all the "you should still be open to being friends to other kids that you don't get along with" stuff from children's media, but forget that even Goku first beat the fuck out of Yamcha/Tien/Piccolo/Vegeta before they squashed the beef and became friends. And even then, Vegeta was still a shithead after they became amicable.
