    Ocean imperialism is a scary future thought, but I doubt it goes anywhere substantial since portions of the ocean are seen as belonging to their closest nations.

    The only alternative to it is that every country agrees to take the hit to their GDP by voluntarily policing their own people doing fishing, which will never happen.

    How do you think we could get to a state where we stop over exploiting the oceans with no governing force stopping people? Can an international treaty of nations agree among themselves to get there?
