What the fuck is this?
Edit:
"YouTube announced today a new expansion to its age-verification requirements in Europe. The video-sharing service said some users in the region will need to confirm their age in the coming months before they are able to watch age-restricted content. These requirements include a valid ID or credit card indicating that the user is above the age of 18. "

Edit2: Gave my credit card details (they were connected to this account already anyway, making this pointless on top of being a slap in the face), STILL GOT a fucking "this content may be inappropriate for some users" popup. Really dreading when this shit starts popping up on my alt accounts
:side-eye-1: :side-eye-2:
All my photos and videos are backed up to Google Photos.
I prefer external hard drive. Cloud services are just someone else computer.
All of them really. Whichever gives enough space to host them all. More backups is better. Unless you're worried about privacy, but you're using Google Photos so you're already past privacy issues.
But of course like others said, an external drive (can be a flash drive if it has enough space). I'd add keep them on your computer's main drive too. If you can, keep another backup drive off premises, like at a relative's house or something.
Europe has internet privacy laws so they have to find some way to collect your info don't they?
I believe this was borne out of some new EU directive demanding more robust age verification because age gates do nothing (also works out for Google, though they pinky promise to delete the identifying information afterwards)
I'm sure EU citizens will be delighted to send photos of their ID so they can see a goatseing Tony the Tiger on some furry porn website
Interestingly enough, I'm only getting this on my Android Google account, the one I use on desktop hasn't been hit... yet
It's completely baffling, my Android account is my "legit" one and connected to my real name- I've even connected my card to it and bought shit off the Google Play store. This shit is ludicrous
One more reason to use youtube-dl. Thus far at least, it bypasses age verification.
It's better to nationalize monopolies instead of breaking them up.
