    I believe this was borne out of some new EU directive demanding more robust age verification because age gates do nothing (also works out for Google, though they pinky promise to delete the identifying information afterwards)

    I'm sure EU citizens will be delighted to send photos of their ID so they can see a goatseing Tony the Tiger on some furry porn website
