I think that the inherent problem is that it's all so contextual that essentially making a manual is prohibitive because it would either be extraordinarily long and hyperspecific to the point of being useless or it ends up like Gricean Maxims (admittedly which I am a fan of, especially for autistic people but...); it comes off as "Do the appropriate thing at the appropriate time in the appropriate fashion based on the relevant context” or, basically, do the right thing and don't do something wrong.
You're totally right. Also, every time you reply to me, I learn something new and absolutely fascinating - thank you for introducing me to Gricean Maxims!
Robots, computers, AI, the archetypal egghead character, a lot of humanoid aliens... autistic coding in media hits different when you're autistic yourself.
The deeper I get into understanding my autism, the more I see how much I look like a weird Vulcan to everyone around me.
I can't say that I've ever had trouble expressing emotion but I frequently feel like most people received a game manual that I never got.
Right there with you - this is the most perfect expression of my human experience I've come across in quite a while.
I don't understand why there's not a manual yet. There are enough autists with enough data, we could totally make this happen.
