Pretty sure sexual harassment was/is such a problem in the DSA they actually put all the related rules and procedures on separate sheet from the rest of the bylaws when you join, just to be sure you don't miss it. Stopping sexual harassment from happening to your members is definitely part of leadership.
managing chapter membership expulsions is not the job of rank and file members.
Motioning for it is.
i don’t think it’s unreasonable (even with my low opinion of them now) to expect them to be able to act quickly and decisively on people showing up to events to creep on and harass people
What authority do you think these people have that you don't? Who is supposed to be the bouncer when you're at an open-door volunteer event organized and hosted by volunteers for the purpose of increasing volunteer activity?
are you suggesting that cornering women and asking them whether they are wearing a bra is “eye-contact between members”?
I'm suggesting that the guy who posted a "Please come to my DSA meeting" flyer on a street light pole is not your personal bodyguard.

Stopping sexual harassment is a basic administrative duty. It's an issue in almost every org.

I'd be curious to hear which chapter this was.
yeah I'm sure you would be :cia:
Ok, sure.
If it's not in the bylaws it needs to be. I'm talking about what needs to happen for a functioning movement, not what the DSA is already doing.
If you want to form a Volcel Praetorian Guard and start policing meetings, give it a shot.
I'll be curious to hear how it works out.
Uhhhhh
Wassup?
