I’ve heard this was the case for the recent Iran-China friendship announcement or whatever, there was a pretty good episode of The East is a Podcast on it.
Reading the article, there was a bunch of language about “the two parties should do [something]” and stuff like that, seems like important people in the state met in a friendly manner, but with no mention of actual legislation or anything.
So good, but not really consequential, unless meetings and platitudes like this haven’t happened in a while
BRI means building a 21st century infrastructure network that spans three continents. Vietnam is going to play a proportional role to it's economic size of it partners up. That brings its own basket of risks and rewards.
As best I can tell this is an announcement to be more bro-tastic in general but doesn't necessarily have policy implications. Am I wrong?
a lot of dipshit USians have been floating using Vietnam as a US base against China, so at least it buries that idea.
