There were some good comments/discussions in that thread, but most of it was reactionary, moralizing garbage that draped itself in concern for the oppressed while attacking anyone who tried to inject some nuance into the discussion of being radlibs or denigrated them to being white western sex workers with onlyfans.

This is one of the points that I stand with conservatives. Pornography is morally degenerate and the exploitation involved makes me wanna vomit. Link

People who defend prostitution are usually just closeted perverts imo Link

Screw it, I'm not gonna pretend for the sake of moral relativists: I'm against monetisation of erotic love because of moral (non-religious) reasons. I appreciate Marxist focus on material/physical, I really do. Still, I don't distill every moment of life experience to it, I'm not a robot. I work with hands and in a way I am selling my body but I don't consider it even close to prostitution. If we can't have love non-monetized, we're completely lost as species. Link

Radlibs pretend most women actually want to be sex workers and that soliciting sex from prostitutes isn't inherently depraved and exploitative. Link

Radlibs be like “wow, this woman forced into prostitution to feed her children is so empowered!” Link

twitter lib #69420 is typing Link

Liberals think their only fans is sex work. Fuck em they are all clowns Link

...Plus, sex work contributes nothing to the real economy -- unlike, say, working in a mine or a steel factory... Link

The word "Sex worker" just reeks of american wokeoism. It's a whitewashing of a taboo term such as prostitution to try and make it more pallatable for liberal audiences. I for one shall not be the one propagating it Link

Sometimes this sub has some pretty cringy radlib takes on social issues. I’m happy this is at least one where there seems to be unanimous agreement that “sex work” discourse is a marketing scheme pimps are using to normalize exploiting women. Link

Sex work without economic coercion is just sex... if there is no economic coercion attached you can just stop charging and start having sex. Link

Yes it is bad, because it’s not productive. Nothing is being produced in the act, besides normalizing a person’s body as a commodity. If you want to have sex go speak to a human being of your preferred sex and court them. We’re not liberals, we’re not fighting for the rights of people to do whatever they want whenever they want - that’s stupid, and reactionary. We’re fighting for the socialist mode of production ONLY. Instead of turning your body into a commodity, go produce something of value and utility... Link

... Point is, if you enjoy playing sports and sell tickets for people to watch it, or enjoy doing theatre and make people pay to see you, or like taking nudes and sell access to it so be it. You’re producing something through your creative outlet that benefits human morale. Link

...But the idea that people wouldn't want to partake in sex work without capitalism seems like a short sighted viewpoint. Link

Sex workers are workers, the quality of my arguments dont change that. SWs are not some special class of subhuman as you insist Link

... you should be allowed to make that your profession if you're into it. Link

Sex work is work. Full stop... Link

...I've seen sex workers arguing they do their job not because they're forced to, but because they legitimately enjoy it and do find it liberating. In fact, they find it insulting whenever people argue that sex workers are necessarily 'forced' into their job. If sex workers themselves feel that way, do we have the right to argue with that? I'd like to develop a more informed opinion about this, so would love to hear people's thoughts. Link

My question was about those who are not coerced into sex work. Obviously, I don't mean those who are coerced against their will... I wouldn't be asking the question in the first place if that was the case. Link

Who are you to judge what is moral and what is immoral? I wouldn't pull out my teeth or let someone fight me. I made a choice to open my man whore business, it was not out of economic necessity. Doing something you are forced to do that's beyond your control is shitty and should be eradicated, however personal choice when it does not affect others detrimentally should be allowed. Link

Thank you for educating all the sex workers who disagree with you Link

... There're lots of professions where menial labor is sold and the only product is entertainment. They can be exploitative or not, depending on the circumstances.... there's worse work out there than sex work. I'd rather give a few handjobs than scrub toilets all day or wear out my back/knees/wrists. It's hard to not see prudishness behind arguments against sex work even when it's purely voluntary and everyone is still forced to work to survive. Link

Cool to see that the same services/productive labor dichotomy arguments are coming into anglosphere :solidarity:
