This is literally a program where you can submit your own text adventure script, and presumably the bot only combs through those...imagine being this much of a jackass about not having the ability to sexualize minors on a text adventure game ffs.
Libertarians, please get other hobbies. Like shotgun tasting
G*mers: We're not weirdo sex pests please stop stereotyping us!
Also G*mers:
They act like this is a free speech issue, motherfucker you're enabling child predators.
I saw a completely unironic thread on that subreddit where a pedophile was arguing that being able to act out their fantasies in AI Dungeon helped them cope with their real life struggles. The comments were all talking about how healthy and positive the whole thing was. Legit felt like vomiting after reading it
I saw the same thread and most of the replies were telling him to shoot himself, only one said that would be too quick a death so yknow two extremes
Idk what's the ideal approach on treating pedophiles, I would say culling but I'm not a psychiatrist.
don’t tread on my freeze peach to say slurs and my right to have child sex slaves!!
Just checked the sub, and this screenshot doesn't begin to capture the absolute meltdown they're having over this.
There is one real problem buried in that though: AIDungeon apparently suffered a huge data leak that allowed attackers to scrape every story both published and unpublished, paired with usernames. There's some speculation that the current filter was implemented because that leak exposed just how much of AIDungeon's userbase was using it specifically for weird fetish smut, including pedos, and that latitude is trying to head off a scandal over allowing pedos free access to the AI.
Another issue is that AIDungeon's text generator model comes from texts linked on reddit several years ago, and as a result has a tendency to spontaneously bring up all sorts of awful bullshit like trying to turn the player into a literal child, inventing a family member for the character a priori and immediately trying to do incest in the same line, random characters stabbing* or groping the player, yelling slurs at you, etc. That is to say, the training data for the AI model included explicit pedo content (because it was trained on reddit by OpenAI), so as it stands AIDungeon can create unwanted pedo content and flag itself leading to a manual review of a story (at least that's what it sounds like, but with the tantrum people are throwing it's hard to tell; the proper way to do the filter is have the AI discard and retry its own output if it trips the filter, while only flagging player inputs that seem to be trying to introduce pedo content, and that may be what they did - I'm certainly not going to go test it and I can't very well determine if it's spontaneously and quietly flagging itself).
* It really likes to have characters just produce a knife from somewhere and stab you, regardless of context. Light bondage scene? They randomly slit your throat. Friendly conversation? More like a violent stabbing. No one around at all? Surprise, here's a dude with a knife and it's stabbing time.
I do find the game wanting to stab you constantly hilarious. It's like its sick and tired of its players and just wants them to go outside.
AI dungeon is a text adventure game that's randomly generated using an AI. You input key information and it spits out a custom story. The game devs added an update that doesn't allow for input or output of pedophilic content, and Reddit's throwing a hissy fit.
Wait, the site that had a subreddit with over a million subscribers that was entirely dedicated to hornyposting about underage celebs and that only got banned after that became a PR disaster is throwing a hissy fit over this? :surprised-pika:
Im now more interested in fucking around with ai dungeon. If it pisses of pedos it must be worth a look.
Didn't know about its existence, but sounds pretty cool something like that was developed. I really can't keep up with having a grasp of AI limits, like, even knowing what's possible and what's not.
It's pretty fun. Like an old DOS text adventure but instead of being pre scripted by a developer it's an AI that responds to whatever you type in.
