    I think that's the total for the world. I tried to do some googling, and it's hard to get a reliable estimate on a per bitcoin mined energy usage, but even 6 years ago (when mining them was easier than now) 1 bitcoin was the equivalent of running a 65 inch TV at peak brightness for 4 months straight.

        Yeah, I'd definitely argue that burning my retinas by watching Stargate Atlantis on repeat at peak brightness for months on end is a better use of resources than bitcoin mining.
