It's wild to me that the largest local protest I've seen- not BLM, not Medicare for All, not climate change, not anti-vax or pro-choice or any of the other recent issues- was 100-ish university students spontaneously protesting for Palestine and chanting that Biden is guilty of genocide.
The democrats are really underestimating how badly their zionism will backfire. Like hell would I ever vote for one who isn't vocally pro-Palestine now.

Not necessarily. Genocide is the mass murder of a particular group. Ethnic cleansing is the removal of a particular group from an area. Now, you absolutely can ethnically cleanse an area through genocide, but you can also warn them to leave the area "for their safety" and once they're out never let them come back.

I think the distinction is that ethnic cleansing is a more general term and genocide is a more specific term. An ethnic cleansing can theoretically not involve murder though this is all a bunch of semantics lawyering and I'm sure conversationally they are often used interchangeably.

The reason it is important to make the distinction is because somebody, in this case Israel, can ethnically cleanse an area without necessarily committing genocide. Because there was no mass murder, no genocide, the media tends to shy away from using the term ethnic cleansing even though it definitely happened.

Hi GenZ here, we're just tired of politicians doing nothing but licking the boots of corporations and financing genocides yet ignoring the ongoing climate crisis that will kill all of humanity if we dont do something about it. It is our future that is in risk, not the one of the boomer politicians and we need to take action for it.
