I hate the fallout series, its pro capitalist propaganda that portrays communists as evil loony toon villains. It's politics are lib at best and entirely reactionary most times. When addressing race it's always durr chinese bad but retro futurist america is free of racism in the same way starship troopers was. Fallout new vegas, the shining turd of the series, had four endings straight out of a political compass test, side with the auth right legion, the lib right ncr, the auth left house, or the yesman lib left. None of it is original, they did the same thing again in fallout 4 because Todd Howard can't make an original idea to save his life, it's all just a giant homage to the "golden age" of American culture and if you hate American culture it's hard to sit through. No I don't want to hear big iron, the guy who wrote that was a fucking racist and fallout 76 has a literal song that mentions joining the kkk. In conclusion pig poop balls.
I like to fill/replace the shitty parts in my head and just enjoy a fucked up universe where everyone is fucked up cuz this is murica. Like, everything feels lile the universe is just a big "lets point at murica and laugh at it", and I enjoy that. Of course turds are gonna unironically enjoy play as a fascist, worse even feel validated by a game lettinh them play it, but you wont fix shitheads through a game, so I'm gonna enjoy it my way and use some imagination to fix the lame parts.
Yeah the fallout universe is fucked up, it's America nuked itself. There's definitely irony in it. But it's not anti-american in any sense, it's a celebration of it, a celebration of the death cult that we though capitalism would bring us when the oil dries up. Mad max is a celebration of Australian culture is it not? And all of this is to not mention the gameplay, it's just loot, shoot, level up stats, help npc or kill npc, game crashes, game is not optimised, download mods to fix game, download mods to make game different, and at that point you ain't even playing fallout anymore. You want a game better than new vegas look no further than bioshock, or prey, or even half life. Open world games are overrated.
