like if a single person rents the apartment minimum income is 3x rent, but if two people share the apartment and split rent their combined income has to be 6x? the fuck sense does that make when there's more people to pay for it. it's not like the price is going up, and if one of them suddenly dies or flees or something you still have the other one on the hook for paying for it.
It's not about making sure you can afford it, it's about making sure only "certain types" of people can live there. Gentrification isn't just about property values, it's a form of internal colonialism.
