I'm trying to figure out how to pirate movies and TV shows. There are some apps on my FireTV that work fine for pirating movies and TV shows but they don't have everything I want to watch. As far as I know if you want the widest range of access to pirated content you need to use a computer. So if anyone could show me a guide about how to stream/download pirated movies and shows off your computer that would be greatly appreciated. I also need to know how to get a VPN and use it and I would really prefer to not pay for a VPN. Thanks

Also how tf do people use all those cool emojis in comments? I usually use Hexbear logged off but I want to know how to use the emojis

No decent VPN is free. If you're not going to pay for one then there's little point in trying to use a free one. They throttle, they gather data on you and in the event of being served a DMCA they'd gladly rat you out for a nickel or maybe free.

Do you live in the West? US/Canada/Western Europe/Australia/New Zealand? If you live outside it you may not need one as many countries outside of it don't give a crap about copyright.

On the other hand if you live in Germany you are foolish if you don't use a good VPN as they will directly fine you money for piracy. In the US most people only get a notice from their ISP and if you get enough of them they can allegedly disconnect your service permanently. But lots of people don't use them and don't get in trouble. I would advise you if you get more than one notice to consider stopping or getting a VPN strongly though.

I personally wouldn't do it without a VPN but I'm a very cautious person and VPNs are cheap. You can get VPNs from $3-5/month if you buy in bulk (1-2-3 years of subscription). Some have holiday sales as well. I would avoid PIA if you can, I believe you can get other VPNs just as cheap and they're owned by a shady marketing company.

As to VPN providers, you can refer to the page at privacytools.io regarding that if you want. I personally think a company like AirVPN is adequate for such things as this and fairly cheap, only a little more than PIA.

As to guide to piracy: https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/wiki/megathread

Enjoy. Please be safe and use an adblocker such as ublock origin, an up to date browser and follow the safety tips linked in that megathread.

You can additionally instead of going to those websites install qbittorrent (an open source client, in fact you should use this anyways no matter what), then go to the search tab, click the button in the lower right that says update, click to update, it'll load a bunch of plugins and you can search straight from that. You should still read the safety tips on the megathread and I would avoid running software you find that way if you don't want your computer infected but for movies and such as long as you follow the safety guide on that megathread you should be safe.

This, if you're not paying for the product you're the product

(Sometimes you pay for the product and then you're the product.)

You can actually get a free trial of airvpn I believe if you submit an email address request, it lasts like 3 days. You can also buy a week's worth or something. Other providers may have similar. The cheapest is longer-run though.

Look at it this way: for under $5/month you can have access to movies, tv shows, etc from multiple streaming platforms and stuff not on streaming platforms. HBOMax which is IMO one of the better offerings right now in streaming (but I am biased as I grew up watching adult swim and love turner classic movie junk among others) is $14 a month, as is Netflix. This is significantly cheaper if quite a bit less convenient.

If you mainly download new released stuff you'll get it within a night (an hour or two often), for older stuff it could take a bit longer at times but most usually with decent internet speeds can be had in under 8 hours, at least for movies. For huge TV shows it can take days depending on the sizes involved (although recent stuff, especially streaming rips is going to generally finish in a few hours so long as it's just a season).

If I might make a suggestion? Buy a cheap large (ideally 4TB, but even with 2TB you could store a few TV shows and many movies) external or internal hard drive and store your movies and tv shows on it. You can build yourself a nice home library with a front-end using something like Kodi without having to have a server (you can also use Plex but you have to install the server and client software). If you really only watch stuff once then this may not be the best suggestion and if so disregard it, but if you want to have a collection of some favorite TV shows and movies it works nicely and that way you always have some stuff you can watch if your current stuff is downloading. You can get something in the 4TB range for just under a $100 online (yeah a certain retailer that starts with an A as well as others, in stores you might pay a bit more, maybe $120 but you get the picture).

I always recommend Mullvad but really just make sure you research whichever vpn you want to go with.

I dont really want to download stuff, just stream it. Im using a couple different sites rn from the reddit piracy megathread you linked and they are good. One of the reasons why I want to pirate is to not spend any money at all but I might just buy a VPN subscription because its not too expensive and I'd rather be safe than sorry. Thanks for all the info

If you go this route, installing plex on the seedbox might be the easier version tbh. It's like a personal netflix, streams to all your devices

Used to be you didn't need a VPN. Now you really do assuming you are in the US. Set one up, install a torrent client (Deluge or qBitorrent) and go nuts https://pirateproxy.ltda/ Find a torrent and click the Magnet icon

the rights holders crawl the public torrents. if you are using torrents from private trackers, in my experience you won't have any issues without a VPN.

couple of releveant subreddits would be r/trackers and r/opensignups

rarbg.to is my public torrent site of choice right now. It lets you search by IMDb numbers, which is so niiice. So just look up a movie/show you want in IMDb and in the url copy the number sequence after .com/title/tt.

Been pirating for 15 years in the TV/movie arena, much longer if you count music and comics.

In terms of cost, you have to look at piracy & how you want to approach it. If it's going to replace every streaming service you have (which it can), then you'll ultimately save money by investing in a 4tb hard drive.

I got in on a sale for NORDVPN and it was 3 years for $75 I think, which is really great. I get really good speeds. As others have suggested, you may not need it for private trackers - but the downside is usually the good private trackers are invite only & they'll ask for evidence that you're a good seeder.

I've used qBittorrent and it's done well for me.

I go the extra mile and use PeerBlock when using VPN, probably unnecessary but it gives me peace of mind. It blocks known bad IPs.

I've got two 4TB hard drives and it's more than enough. Currently have 300 or so movies (I'll delete after watching if I know I'll never watch again) and 95/100 complete tv shows.

I use Plex, which as a beginner should be really easy to use. Running that on a PC & you can stream it straight to a plex app on roku/firestick/whatever you use.

That's basically the setup I've used for a long time and I really like it.

If you use Plex be sure to rename the video file to Title (Year). So instead of Parasite.bluray.x264-torrentgroup it'll be Parasite (2019). Makes it easier for Plex to match.

Great advice! I do it automatically with movies. Luckily Plex does a good job with TV titles, but I do run it through an autonamer because I'm a nerd who likes formatting consistency.

Same thing with Kodi and Ember. It just makes it easier. I always put them in subfolders with the {Movie name (year)} format for both the folder and the file and little problems with automated matching.

I use the website Cuevana for tv shows. It's spanish but it also has the shows in english (no subtitles, tho).
