Thought it would be a relatively simple thing to compile the weeks slop and seed it out. Any reason why it hasn't happened? I didn't think that patreon or stitcher would be more litigous than big media.

There was a lot of talk that podcasting was a medium that's escaped attention in the wake of jan 6th. Useful Idiots pod was kicked off Rolling Stone for their anti-imperialist left positions too, it seems like, and they had a little clout.

Exactly. My only knowledge of this is coming from what they've said on the pod tbh, and they've kind of been making a joke about it, which I think they realized was a mistake when nobody noticed that it happened.

They implied that they were kicked out/not rehired because of their criticism and position on Saudi involvement in Yemen, because of Rolling Stone's close connections to SA funding.

They had a rational position on China too which probably won't be allowed in a legacy media outlet like RS.

They're on substack now I think, Mat was on it before, and the pod is no longer with Rolling Stone. Think they fired him from writing for Rolling stone too.

There were big numbers listening to the pod before they were fired afaik.

That's wild, Matt's a known quantity there, surely firing him from a rather successful podcast and from writing in the magazine that most readily comes to mind when you think of him would draw more attention, not less. Fuckin' stupids. Is that why they changed theme songs?

That's the thing, it got zero attention from what I saw. It should have been noticed but I didn't see any other media types making any noise about it. I don't know whether it was fear of legals or media omerta or what.

Hadn't even noticed the theme change tbh.

It was just on this most recent episode the one with Thomas Frank (I haven't gotten to him yet, though, only half through listening)
