Herman Miller-style ergonomic mesh office chairs are actually where it’s at. If you buy a lower end one, it won’t be any more expensive than a g*mer chair.

Refurbished Aerons were going for cheapish near the beginning of the pandemic. I had to replace the gas lift piston, but the mesh is still in pretty good shape. The only problem with them (besides the price tag) is that they're weird to get used to, since you're supposed to recline slightly and "float" instead of hunching forward. It makes sense, since you're trying to get the weight off your spinal column, but it's a hell of an adjustment.

I also once scammed a former employer into buying one of the higher-end DXRacer chairs (King series, I think), and that was OK for sitting for about 5-6 hours per day. It was an ass sweat factory, and absolutely not something I would want to be stuck in while working from home for 8-9 hours and then gaming in the same spot.

The Office Depot WorkPro Quantum 9000s are an OK alternative to the Herman Millers, if you can find them on sale.

I sit on my bed and hunch over a laptop. It's the natural shape of the human spine.
