Finally biting the the bullet and checking out radio War Nerd. Can anyone here recommend good episodes to check out?
People have already mentioned the Yeltsin and NED sagas which are very recent
Off the top of my head, the Isa Blumi interview on the Yemeni war and the Gene Sharp episode
Also parse what really interests you, they cover a variety of global historical topics

Ohh yeah Isa Blumi was great.
For me all the episodes with non-native speaker guests are like 50-50 hit-miss because some of these people have a really bad english. I was never able to connect with Annibale because of his weird pronounciation. Like Donald Trump would say, SAD!
The Syria episode where that Lebanese journalist talks about American incursions at like Al-Tanif, that was great too. Fucking MSM libs only came out with that story like a whole year later. "Oh yeah there was this big battle between American SOF and Russian mercenaries and we killed like 100 Russians, yeah that happened...Trump lol amirite?"
The two episodes with "Bruskh" from the YPG were great.
It's a dude from Florida who went to fight ISIS with the Kurds, and a hippie from California made a pretty good documentary about it, which you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJ1290087Yk (ironically the film studio belongs to that Ricky Schroder asshole who got Kyle Rittenhouse out of jail, but don't let that distract you, it's a great film about Syria!)
Their ones on the Italian wars and the Years of Lead are a favourite.
And a related one (thematically, not chronologically), EP205 Nov 19 2019, Ames looks at the history of the word neoliberalism—who first used it, in what context. Surprise, it was coined in Italy as an alternative to fascism that had essentially the same goals but basically just looked less icky. Turns out some elites do get a bit spooked when accomplishing your political agenda relies on conjuring up lynch mobs.
Ames was careful to emphasize that he was merely looking at the word itself and its original meaning, not claiming that today’s neoliberalism is a direct ideological descendent of the OG Italian neoliberalismo. But I mean...
(Note: it’s been like a year since I listened to it so I may be misremembering some aspects)
Yeltsin made me yell in rage as I was walking my dog. Listen when people won’t give you side eyes
The robert parry interview is great, and released for free. The 12 hour series on the years of lead is a classic. Although they don't often miss, so it's hard to go wrong.
Most of them are on patreon but there or a couple free ones on this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJ6Tzij-Pbs YouTube channel. The Iran-US War Scenarios is pretty good
