There's definitely a difference in sound between cheap and expensive headphones/speakers, I just don't know if you need super expensive equipment, there's probably diminishing returns. Like most people probably would be satisfied with ATH-M50X headphones and wouldn't be able to tell/care the difference between them and some $1000 Sennheisers most of the time

Exactly the same with me, although maybe 2010. They've held up beautifully.
