Hi, I have OCD, and this is an extremely common thing for me to do. I've never posted on anything before so, I'm sorry if I come off odd.
I constantly get triggered(?) by liquids or like, substances like grease, vegetable oil, or food oils. For example, when I eat significantly oily or greasy food, like a pizza (which I rarely eat because it's greasy.) or something, if I'm eating in my room I'll feel the extreme need to not touch anything while I'm eating because I'll get the substance from the greasy food onto my bed or my room and after I'm done, I'll immediately have to wash my hands and face.
If I get the oily substance on my clothes, I'll immediately take the clothes off and wash them because if I don't I feel like it'll get on my body, and my body will get oily and feel the need to take a shower.
Does anyone else do this or know what it is?
ASD here. Fucking hate feeling greasy. Don't want it on my fingers while eating, will wash my hands before I resume eating. I've also had to figure out a skincare routine that keeps my face at just the right level of oily (meaning not at all, without feeling dry). Same goes for shampoo, I prob wash my hair too much but I've got to keep it 'dry'. When I have greasy hair my day is ruined and I get the intrusive thought to shave it all off
I'm the exact same way! Especially with my hair, I cannot STAND greasy hair at all. I'm also the same way with skincare, the sides of my nose get oily and I absolutely despise it because I can't stop thinking about it, But when I'm in the shower I usually wash my face with bar soap + skincare after shower and it usually takes it away.
Cetaphil facial cleanser does that for me. Removes grease without drying. I use it on my shoulders too.
I use something like it. Every evening I wash my face, let it dry, and use an exfoliator like that. Every morning I shower & apply a moisturiser afterwards. Sometimes I wipe my face 'dry' in the afternoon with a paper towel/kleenex if needed.
sticky, oily/greasy, yeah, I can't stand so much like that! I havent explored it fully yet idk what to call it but it's a thing that i also do
I'm thinking maybe it's contact OCD? It sounds exactly like what happens to me, so perhaps you should check it out too!
Greasy lotions are a thing that I find hard to deal with. Anything that feels overly slimy but doesn't like evaporate or soak in fast and lingers is over stimulating and it has to be washed off or removed etc. Sunscreens are another pain in the summer for instance
I'm the same way! I can't stand lotion when it doesn't dry right away, I absolutely hate the way it feels on my hands when I try to do stuff so I just wash it off because it feels "oily".
IKR! bad craic that lol but yeah it's the same with anything like greasy food too, like I need a knife and fork for pizza sometimes too and stuff it's bad. My wife also has the same issue, I think it's fairly common that certain things can over stimulate. I've also got misophonia so I have sound issues too and light sensitivity lol so I have it bad right across the board 🤭
I can't fucking stand grease either. It's really bad when you're talking about machine lubricant, and that shit seeps into your fingernails and doesn't fucking go away no matter how long or how many times you wash your hands. You pretty much have to shower in order to get rid of that greasy feel and smell. Gloves are okay enough until you accidentally put your greasy hands in them one day and transfer the grease over so now you can't wear gloves without coating your fingertips with a thin layer of grease.
i have a close friend with a very similar thing for dust or any powdery substance. personally i try to wash my hands and face every time i eat and avoid touching anything else before that, but its not only grease i'm worried about but also the other kinds of detritus and hygiene hazards
I do the same thing after I eat. For me, It's just greasy and oily substances. I'm completely fine with dirt or anything like it, it's just oily and oleaginous foods.
