On April 9, 1948, the assassination in Bogotá of the popular leader and then candidate for the presidency of Colombia for the Liberal Party, Jorge Eliécer Gaitán , triggered a series of massive and violent protests initially in the capital and later at the national level, which they went down in history as the " Bogotazo ". It was the beginning of a bloody period known as " La Violencia ", which would pit liberals and conservatives in arms for the next ten years.

This confrontation between the main political parties of the South American country also spread to rural areas where armed violence displaced tens of thousands of peasant families from their farmland. The phenomenon resulted in the massive appropriation of hectares of arable land that illegally passed into the hands of large landowners with the consent of the authorities. There, in the heart of this conflict between landowners and peasants, the most emblematic former insurgent group in Colombia and the Latin American continent, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army (FARC-EP), has its primary origin.

In a small territory called Marquetalia, in the municipality of Planadas in the department of Tolima (center-west), the tensions that already existed at least since the 1920s between landowners and rural workers, deepened and accelerated with the advent of of "La Violencia" and state repression. Some liberal groups that had armed themselves to confront the conservative armies in the area decided not to adhere to the amnesty offered by the de facto president Gustavo Rojas Pinilla, and formed an incipient guerrilla enclave in the late 1950s.

This first insurgent peasant group, born in the heat of the conflict over land, made contact with the Colombian Communist Party and under the ideological precepts of Marxism-Leninism proclaimed the Independent Republic of Marquetalia, whose motto was "the land for those who work it" Its leader was Pedro Antonio Marín Marín , later known as Manuel Marulanda Vélez or "Tirofijo".

From the beginning of 1962 and for the next two years, Marquetalia would be the scene of very hard fighting between the National Army and the insurgents that responded to Marulanda. Knowing the terrain, the guerrillas constantly pushed back the troops while they managed to seize weapons and added support among the local population.

Under pressure from the traditional political class and the United States Government (USA) that feared a new socialist revolution on the continent, in May 1964 a large-scale military operation was launched on the peasant enclave. Thousands of soldiers are placed on the ground under US military advice within the framework of the LASO Plan (Latin American Security Operation), a precursor to the subsequent National Security Doctrine in the region.

Marulanda ordered the immediate evacuation of those peasants who due to their physical or family condition could not face the war, and fierce attacks by air and land began to occur that included the use of napalm and chemical weapons by the military. However, the offensive did not manage to defeat the insurgents who fought from the mountains using guerrilla warfare techniques. From this group of 54 peasants who resisted the onslaught, the FARC-EP was born.

The lowest common multiple (LCM) of a set of numbers is the product of their distinct prime factors, each taken the greatest number of times that it occurs in any one number. For numbers 1 through 10 the LCM is the product of:

2×2×2×3×3×5x×7= 2520

The LCM of 1 through 10 equals the LCM of 6 through 10. In general, the LCM of 1 through 2n equals the LCM of (n + 1) through 2n.

New question Correct times

A wall clock loses 2 minutes in an hour. A table clock gets 2 minutes ahead of the wall clock in an hour. An alarm clock falls 2 minutes behind the table clock in an hour. A wristwatch gets 2 minutes ahead of the alarm clock in an hour. At noon all four timepieces were set correctly. To the nearest minute, what time will the wristwatch show when the correct time is 7:00 p.m.?

Alright everyone I want y'all to try your best and have a great day:soviet-heart: . Like usual dm the handsome poster 😎 @Wmill the answer.

From an article on the fight/flight/freeze/fawn reflex: "Most of us believe that good things happen to us, the future is good, and the world is a benevolent place"

Is this actually how most people think? This is like, the antipodal opposite of everything I believe. There's so much evidence to the contrary of this belief, that I cannot understand how anyone could think this way without serious self-delusion.
