Maybe this is premature, but is the Nicaraguan government's prosecution of colonial sponsored agitators a sign of growing confidence in the region? A global power shift maybe?

Was searching Nicaragua on reddit and a bunch of threads appeared in the last 24 hours about "Democracy hanging by a thread in Nicaragua" because agency funded operatives are finally being taken to court.

The best one was "They're using LAWFARE to take out their opponents".

I've heard it said that the push leftward is simply the natural course for LatAm that is only blocked by US interventionism, and it's only when the US is otherwise distracted by an economic downturn, wars, or say a global pandemic are the people of LatAm actually a bit free to chart their own course. As the US continues it's slow-motion decline and increasing inability to project power I am hopeful this means the people of LatAm are able to pursue a future for themselves free of US hegemony.

Yeah, I always felt that if the empire wasn't so occupied in the middle east the pink tide wouldn't have been as initially successful. I'm gonna say it's back tho: events in Palestine, Peru, Syria, Bolivia...the increased assertiveness of Russia and China....feeling optimistic over hea.

The forces of reaction wont let this slide for long. They are on the back foot now, but they will regain and stumble around more on the way down. It’s going to be rough still.

for anyone not up on it, the US used covert lawfare to take out the democratically elected succdem Brazilian presidents Lula and Dilma.

Now they accuse the Nicaraguan government of using lawfare against US funded agitators. :chefs-kiss:
