Yeah, a little rough around the edges, but they're spot on about how "tankie" is used to redirect/shut down discussion and criticize anyone outside the imperial core for not doing communism "right."

I'm not sure it's a Racist slur. I mean a hardline DDR supporter is just as "Tankie" as the most enthusiastic stan of Xi.

In any case, Tanks are cool, need more :tank-deluxe:

It sucks that some people think that POC are a rhetorical shortcut to proving that something is bad. Things can be bad even if they don't necessarily hurt POC.

On the other hand, many people who defend AES are from AES, which are overwhelmingly states of POC.

Yeah idk why there is so much of this. "X is bad because the POC I imagined don't like it. Signed, a white dude". It's like (former) libs only know American culture war discourse and they have to use the same language to describe everything.

It reminds me of the 'Latinx' thing. All I've ever heard from Spanish speakers is that it's nonsense and only appeals to white people who don't speak Spanish.

Idk, maybe I'm wrong and some Spanish speaking comrades can correct me.

When radlibs say tankie or red fash or totalitarian they are saying it's ok to kill communists

I basically get what you're saying, but I wouldn't mind hearing your reasoning in detail.

They are equating anyone who supports a state with nazis which means if the US government starts killing them it's no big deal.

Not sure it rises to the level of a slur but the poster in the image does have a point about it being a reductive term for MLs that papers over the accomplishments of socialist movements around the world.

I'm actually okay with this. Libs have gotten way too comfortable using this word and I'd like it if they were shamed as a result.

Given how it has been used to denigrate and mock communists from the global south, it might as well function as one.
