Two observations: it is interesting to see the 180 from the days of the cultural revolution when a lot of western culture was default assumed to be bourgeois to “we got paintings of Napoleon and French nobles in our mock Paris!”
Second, for all the external artifice of being a clone of another city and its “failed” status, that looked like a way strong sense of community than your typical American suburb.

Some of it is quite pretty. The black-and-white buildings are a bit too same-y though.
