Alcohol and Drug Abuse Lake has old trolley tracks running through it. Looking at a map of the old lines, it would have connected a major university to the two main downtown commercial districts and the expanding residential districts in the northern part of the city. All linked to a central rail station which could have linked them by train to other major cities. Instead we got an interstate that, due to the way the local topography traps smog, severely impacts air quality. To go to either of those downtown areas or around the campus means searching along arterial roads for street parking and the residential areas don't even have real bike access to them. Amtrak is maybe possibly connecting two cities by rail a century later.

    God damn America.
