Don't understand why they don't do this. It would actually be an effective way for the Church to solidify positions on cultural issues, and relatively speaking opposing the death penalty is a MUCH more popular position than being pro-life.
They did that to John kerry in 2004. My grandpa left the church over it. Not even sure how he felt about Kerry or abortion he just wanted the church to fuck off
