I'm curious about plantains. I get my groceries delivered. The supermarket is cheap but the service can be shitty. I tried to order plantains three times over the last two years. Each time the website said they were in stock but I just got regular bananas instead. The same thing happens for daikon (Japanese radish).
Do they have a substitutions/preferences/requests field on your order form? I wonder if maybe looking up the product code for the correct produce and putting it in that field might help? "Please, Plantains (#XXXX) NOT bananas (#4011)"

Yes.
That's good advice. It can't hurt to try to remind my shopper of exactly what I want. But then I'll likely just get nothing. : (
