What are you folks listening to? I myself am continuing to ignore folklore.

IDLES, British punk band that are concerned with the issues of modern masculinity and so are necessarily feminist. They’re fun and they rock

Big fan of these too! A lot of good angry noisy stuff with a sort of anticapitalist leaning coming out of UK atm. Squid and Snapped Ankles another couple of good ones. Also this song by Black Country, New Road is an absolute masterpiece -https://youtu.be/UAZhzi9cpkc

    Shitloads of pop punk/emo revival.

Jeff Rosenstock - No Dream - absolutely class album, very much a step up from POST and on par with We Cool and Worry in terms of overall quality. Great blending of pop punk hooks with heavier instrumentation in his typical manic style along with excellent social commentary in the lyrics.

Hot Mulligan - You'll Be Fine - really good mix of pop punk and emo, great lyrics and concept as well, although it ends kinda abruptly and is pretty short.

The Lawrence Arms - Skeleton Coast - Really good album from one of my all time favourite bands. Didn't have huge expectations coming into it based on the singles, but each of their records took time to grown on me. Chris McCaughan's songs on it are all amazing, while Brendan Kelly's are a bit samey and feel like outtakes from his other projects. Still very pleased with it given their average wait between albums recently is around 7 years.

Prince Daddy and the Hyena - Cosmic Thrill Seekers - Saw them live back in October, they put on a great high energy show, but I haven't given them a proper listen until recently. Love the snotty vocal style and manic energy, but the songs do start to blend together towards the end of the record.

I love Prince Daddy, saw them ages ago. Those vocals are an acquired taste for sure.

You should check out a punk band called Problem Daughter, they're quite similar to P-Daddy in the vocal style and song structure. I think they were around before them, and they're criminally underrated.

Code Orange has their weird MTV unplugged style livestream tonight, I'm kind of excited for that? They cite NIN as a huge influence, and if it's some Still type shit then I could really get behind that

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLA44WgvONI&t=174s here's a cool little thing about them where they talk about Broken being a huge influence on them

Their most recent album Underneath is proooobably top 3 records of the year for me so far.

Giraffes? Giraffes! released a new track that I've listened to a lot.

Deconstructive Surgery EP from The Chisel is another recent release I've snagged on Bandcamp.

I recently discovered Cuzco, which is a nice substitute for scratching the Clever Girl itch.

Caroline Rose's new album is fantastic. She just keeps getting better.

Secret Shame came up on a list recently, and has been pretty constantly on repeat.

Local band to me, Professor Caffeine and the Insecurities, needs more love. Good nerdy mathrock/emo.

From Chicago, Pixel Grip is one I really like to share with people.

Everything's Fine is on the nose for the hellworld we live in.

Its just really good to see other mathy leftists, I had no idea Giraffes were still even making music. I play guitar, someone should start a leftist math rock band, just normal math rock but all the titles are references to Lenin. We can call it "Bolsheviks? Bolsheviks!"

I need to find an old post either from /r/mathrock or CTH where someone pointed out that a few math rock band are explicitly leftist....

I do know Standards is left friendly, not sure if Marcos is socialist, communist, or just succdem.

A genre, known for complexity for complexity's sake and not boasting a huge fanbase sounds pretty leftist tbh

I've been listening to a bunch of japanese punk lately. Sambomaster, tricot, sparta locals, etc.

Also falling back on to old favorites like Shinobu, Chewing on Tinfoil, homecoming queens, and some BTMI.

I'm trying to write some music as well which I never ventured too far into but my amp was sitting for over a year and I think every tube in there is shot. It was dancing in and out of a distortion channel and was not inspiring confidence.
