You try can Linux out without installing it(via live USB)? Check this guide but use Kubuntu instead of Ubuntu. You can also try it out via virtual machine.

Also try to switch to cross platform open source programs like these so you'll be able to use the same programs when you switch to Linux

This is literally gonna sabotage so many industries because a lot of companies operate with older OS. Oh boy is Microsoft in a speed run to become the most hated company in america

i assume windows 10 will get legacy support for the next decade at least.

Have they said anything about whether or not Windows 10 would continue to get feature updates? It's probably only going to be critical security updates for 10 moving forward.

Absolutely incredible that they told everyone that they needed a new device in the middle of a semiconductor shortage with no end on the horizon for several years.

Microsoft abuses the shit out of their users and people still pay for it

Yup. Gamers and people with odd hardware are kinda stuck with certain things as well, just because there's no support for linux on things like Tobii eye trackers, or weird issues with G-Sync//FreeSync compatibility.

I would crack up if they declared all previous versions mothballed, and had a subtle update for all of the old O.S that would break it and demanded everyone update to the new one.

It probably isn't. I worked for a construction company that had several security breaches due to outdated software and it led to some headaches for the workers that I'm still salty about

If the hardware still does the job it should be kept. Updating because a software company is forcing you to will just create unnecessary waste, greenhouse gases, and use unnecessary labor.
