To cut through the actual events of the plane crash and survivors and all that and just get to the lore — There’s an island on the planet that is kinda the heart of the world and has some supernatural properties and needs to be protected. There’s a cork in the bottle that is the planet and the island is this cork. An entity known as Jacob is protecting the island and is searching for the next guardian. The survivors on the plane are potential guardians. The show ends when a new guardian (one of the plane survivors) is installed.

The culture around Lost when it was airing was really intense and there were people who went wild for all of the mystery and twists and turns and ended up really disappointed by the ending. I loved it, it’s a great character study and you grow to really care about some of the characters. It’s a good watch if you don’t obsess over the “mystery” of the island.
