this is a surprisingly scientifically accurate depiction of dromaeosaurs, including nonpronated wrists and full forearm feathering
by procompsognathids though which crichton probably thought was very clever I'm glad he's dead
procompsognathids
I love how the wikipedia page for this has this image of a plastic dinosaur toy to display the "outdated model"
there's basically no triassic amber in the first place I hate michael crichton so much
He had one book that was pretty dope about killer stingrays that evolved to fly and started exterminating the human population of the west coast, and that was pretty cool.
E. Never mind that was Dave Freedman, fuck Michael Chrichton
in his autobiography Travels he described visiting a Bangkok child brothel
I liked Sphere, but I read it in middle school so :shrug-outta-hecks:
venomous tiny dinosaurs that hunt large prey in packs is some dumb shit
damn, I’ve been wanting to make stuff like this, this is pretty inspiring tbh
This would make for a great reboot of that collectible card series from the 80s
I've always thought that a dromaeosaurid, being essentially a casowary with a monitor lizard's head, is such an amazing animal that it can't possibly be improved. I was wrong.
there's some good evidence that they flapped their wing-arms either to help pounce on prey or to help them balance while dispatching/feeding on prey
there's even a fairly convincing argument that dromaeosaurs actually evolved from a flying ancestor and not the other way around
