The trick is to scan booze and then when they're walking away after checking your ID that's when you bag the free stuff.

It's the most amount of shoplifting I'm willing to risk these days, but if I'm doing the self-checkout and I didn't bring my tote bag then I just take some plastic bags without paying for them.

They are worth so little that no one will bother stopping you over them and the amount of money in bags you'd need to rack up for them to care is just absurd.

Take the bags if you need them, but use your tote bag if you have one.
