I will ROFL if China brings Afghanistan up from being a backwater via raising the material conditions of the Afghans, versus the US's effort to ... do whatever the heck they've been trying to do. First, the Chinese do capitalism better than the US (in their own way), then they do 'spread freedom and democracy' better.
