    Lol shocked-pikachu

tbf this is responsible statecraft so it makes more sense that they're running a story that confirms what we already know like this

Americans, and indeed all Western publics, should be far more skeptical in future of claims from officials and commentators that diplomatic solutions to conflicts and negotiations with adversarial governments are impossible or ineffective, and that military solutions are the only answer. Indeed, we’ve seen virtually the same arguments deployed against peace talks between Israel and Hamas — a conflict that recently saw a successful temporary ceasefire and hostage exchange — just as we saw them deployed in previous conflicts that likewise ended with successful negotiations.

lol if only I could show this to the libs I was arguing with a few months ago, this is so goddamn real. Having this sort of outlet run a story that says "the government is lying to you [about international politics]" isn't the sort of thing I had on my 2023 bingo but I guess it makes sense given the circumstances

Branko Marcetic is a staff writer with Jacobin magazine and the author of Yesterday's Man: the Case Against Joe Biden. His work has appeared in the Washington Post, the Guardian, In These Times, and others.

OH thats interesting that does make this article make a lot more sense.

His book on Biden is pretty good honestly. It was also introduced on Chapo by virgil-phone as "The only communist book who is doing well right now, other than Lenin" which was a pretty funny way to reference the Lenin posting we all did when Bernie got demolished.

That's interesting, I'm surprised a guy like that can get published in papers like responsible statecraft and other nominally lib publications

would say it's getting published in RS because a significant faction of the bourgeoisie wants to stop fooling with Ukraine to focus on China. has been there from the start but you can see the seams starting to come apart now as it grows

Even the responsible statecraft libs can't bear to write more realistic estimates of ukrainian casualties (several hundred thousand KIA, pushing a million casualties total)
