I guess I just got swept up with contrarianism when I said I wanted the Italians to lose because everyone is rooting against England, after years of me being an England hater. Nope, it took me about 3 days to remember why England sucks especially hard in E*rope.

International competition in sports is hilarious to me. Whipping up national fervor for a ball game as a stand-in for the absence of actual war. Yesterday I was reading about how people in Bangladesh get violent over Brazil v Argentina because their international sports federations are incompetent and corrupt, but you need that entertainment fix from somewhere because life blows. The subreddit thread was full of comments talking about how cool and wholesome it was
