The history of Haiti is well explained if you just imagined what would happen to a country if all of the world powers hated a country simply for existing for the better part of two centuries.

The Haitians dared to challenge white supremacy and have been paying for it ever since.

As Mike Duncan said, "in Haiti, there are no happy endings", or something like that.

Seriously, even if you don't listen to his whole series on the Haitian revolution, listen to that last ep in that series at least. It works totally well as a stand alone episode. It covers how Haiti has gotten screwed over for over 200 years. You can also literally hear Mike radicalize himself over the course of 2 hours. Best single episode of any podcast, in my book.

Modern US-Haiti history are basically just the trials to tribulations of trying to create an Asian style sweatshop country in the Carribean. So Cubans have a lot to look forward to! :yea:
