I'm guessing the real reason for what about China is that Netflix doesn't want to alienate that market

Score one for the Chinese approach over the Soviet approach. It's harder to propagandize against you if you're a share of the media market. Look at the remake of Red Dawn vs. the original.

I hate to admit it, but yeah that's fair. Least on the propaganda among the enemy front.

For as much as we say that Fascists are better at building pipelines than we are because they don't purity test, they also tend to self cannibalize very spontaneously when it comes to anticommunism. It quickly becomes a pissing contest.

We purity contest while weak, making it harder for us to make a stand. They purity test when they are strong, making it easier to topple them.

I'd say fascists are better at building pipelines because (1) there's a bunch of right-wing money funneling mass numbers of radicalizable people their direction, and (2) fascists make a concerted effort to pull people that last mile from "Republicans are too centrist for my taste" to "Blood and Soil." Years ago I remember seeing effortpost taxonomies of different slices of the right and what specific topics to raise with them that would push them even further right. I think they do purity test a fair amount (wasn't there some Proud Boys kerfuffle over their leader, who turned out to be a fed, not being white?), which is what leads to those pissing contests.

The takeaways for the left are that (1) we also need some connection with mainstream politics that puts us in touch with mass numbers of radicalizable people, and (2) we also have to make a concerted effort to move people from "Democrats are too centrist for my taste" to "workers should own and control the means of production."

Their indie media people are literally showered in cash for zero effort while ours have to work themselves half to death just to scrape by because YouTube/gaters keep fucking them ala Numuves

Milton Allimadi appears on the episode focusing on Uganda and Amin, but he posted that the producers weren't interested in showing how the current US-backed dictator Gen. Museveni is actually worse than Amin.
