      Weren't American stealth bombers a huge failure or was it just a specific one that's bad? I remember hearing there was one that cost tax payers huge amounts because it needed to be in a special air-conditioned hanger and couldn't go out in the rain?

        They were good if you were facing an enemy without the specific types of radar that could actually detect you, but against peer adversaries they might only give you a few more seconds of leeway. In the case of this particular one, it was because the missile operator waited for the bomb bay doors to open before turning on his radar, allowing the severely outdated missile to actually lock on before american SEAD could target him.
