I'm watching that new Netflix special MSG: Hathaway because I threw it on after work one night and immediately fell in love.
What should I watch next? I know people like Iron Blooded Orphans, is that a good option? Or should I go way back?
I would love to understand some of the lore/context of the MSG universe
I went through Gundam in production order and stopped at X because it was so stinky, imo. Production order is cool so you can see how the series evolved.
Yeah I'll probably just go that route. Are there any series or movies to avoid?
I deffo recommend Hathaway, even if only for the high production value (seeing as I don't know anything else lol)
If shonen tournament anime isn't your cup of tea you could skip G-Gundam. Victory is contentious because it seems like people either love it or hate it, I loved it, I think it's the best show in the series. X got canceled early and I can totally see why, imo it's a half-assed show that doesn't seem to really have a cohesive world and world building like the other shows have. Wing and Endless Waltz is another love it or hate it show. And ZZ Gundam has a very goofy first half. Anyway that's as far as I got.
ZZ has the series' lowest lows and highest highs. There is very little middleground.
As someone who gave up on it once, i encourage you to give it another chance.
Don't worry I finished it, it was great! The second half really picks up and gets interesting but I can see why people would be turned off in the first half.
Was X the one with the little chibi Gundams? That show is like literally the reason I haven't started Gundam till now. I remember seeing ads for it and thinking it looked like shit, even though I was like 10 at the time.
No that's SD Gundam, which I've never seen. X is After War: Gundam X: https://gundam.fandom.com/wiki/After_War_Gundam_X
