Yesterday they were saying the fire is gonna be under control soon, and that there is only one front left which is subsiding. Then they were like "whoops, it's back now and it has new fronts, also somehow we let it get past a huge fucking highway".

Mind you, all these days there has been 0 wind. Like, there is no wind whatsoever today, and there was none yesterday, plus no other day were there any strong winds at all. And somehow they still completely failed at containing it. And now the one big plane they had to do aerial sprays broke down. I can't conceive how they are so bad at this. But the worst part is that they're saying strong winds are about to come and I have no idea what we're gonna do then.

that looks rough. as someone who grew up in wildfire country and i guess still lives in wildfire country due to climate change, your post just looks and sounds like a regular late summer to me. i guess it's true what they say - people can get used to anything.

Bruh I've had to flee my house 3 times in my life. Wildfires are not uncommon here. But never have we had anything like this garbage. The fire is going through town after town, it's been 4 days and it's not slowed down at all, the lack of wind means that there's a dense mist of smoke that's not going away. It's horrible.
