The Wirecutter was probably compromised before the NYT bought it, but it is definitely now. The last time I looked at that site the recommendations had no basis in reality.
I mean, where should we be going for product recommendations if we are forced to actually buy things?
Reddit is obviously no help, they will always suggest the most ridiculously expensive product. Need a chair, it's Herman Miller or Steelcase, no other suggestions. Showerhead, it's gonna be some $4000 German thing and they'll talk about it adding value to your home. Like bro, I'm broke as shit, if I could afford a $4000 showerhead, I wouldn't be asking for recommendations, I'd hire a plumber.
It would be nice if local electrical or plumbing/steamfitter unions would have a list of recommendations. Preferably union-made stuff from the same region of the USA.

That would be extremely based, but I'm in Canada, so it would be cool if they did that here too.
