It's basically what stops you from turning your brain into mush and turning into a zombie if you're a chronic alcoholic. It's stored in your liver and you drain it when you drink too much.
Oats and whole grains, beef, and fish. Black beans as well. If you drink more than your average person eat a lot of one, or all, of these as a habit. I think pork has some too, a low amount, but chicken definitely does not.
It should be an additive to beers but no one has allowed that to happen yet. Look up Wernicke–Korsakoff syndrome if you're wondering what the consequences of not having enough are.
last post of the night. Eat your Thiamin.
edit: it's also called B1
editedit: supplements work too
Really though it's a genetic and psychological thing. Alcohol hits some of us in a very difficult to describe way. Most of us aren't like WHOO WE JUST LOVE TO PARTAYYY it's more of a feeling of need, and a loss of when sober, that doesn't even go away in longer-term abstinence.
This post is harm reduction, not apologia and pretending like it's good.
The funny thing is if you're trying to stop drinking you need something better than alcohol and alcohol is pretty good. So you better find something a lot better. You want to figure out something that you're doing with your life that's worth not getting drunk and screwing up.
Because you want to have something on the other side of that teeter-totter that has some value. So that you can think no no I'm not going to get drunk and screw that up. You might say well why do people drink too much? If you like alcohol that's a stupid question. It's like why do people drink too much, well because it's great. You need something better than that.
You need an adventure, you need to get out there and have something to do and and something worth waking up for. That's the substitute for the addiction. (Actually the addiction is the substitute for that if truth be known.) Eventually you can flip that around and you can find there's a lot of weight in having self-worth.
I'm going to keep responding because I could make a whole post about this thing you've said.
No that's not why people keep drinking. They keep drinking because they find themselves in the throes of addiction. It's specifically not great. Addiction is not a nebulous concept. It is a physical problem in our brains that is not so easy to get out of as "having an adventure". I've had adventures my friend, I still got drunk.
oh oh i'm sorry i've finally been awakened by the benal tripe that you've typed here. I'm going to go around the world in a blimp or whatever and eat only kellogs corn flakes for the rest of my life
My dude, you don't know who you're talking to or what you're talking about but you feel really good giving advice to me when I'm just suggesting some fucking vitamins so people can feel better.
Stay out of this lane. you don't know what you're talking about and it comes across as either manipulative or incredibly condescending. Get out of here, please.
