It's pretty hard to run through a kilometer of minefields and interlocked sectors of fire.
Allegedly there is a Russian radio frequency that Ukrainians can broadcast on to receive instructions on how to cross lines and surrender. Idk if it's true or not though, plenty of lies on both sides of this war.
It does actually exist, but it is still a massive risk to cross no man's land.
