Many of our streetlamps just need to be re-fitted to have better top-covers to keep the light mostly on the ground where people are walking/ driving, and out of the sky to minimize light pollution. There will always be some areas with a worse view than others, but it's just comically dystopian that people would be scared of the night sky because they didn't know what it was from all the lights on normally.

Higher-wavelength lights would also help. Some towns with observatories use amber-colored streetlights to decrease interference
