over 300 upbears on each post, 50-100 upbears easily on each comment

more usernames

recent posts rarely top 70 upbears, never manage to get over 200

very clear that this website has become more inactive

mods/admin have less of a hassle, they do their good work for free on an experimental and what I imagine to be fiddly system, exhausting to troubleshoot software bugs and to ban slimy chuds

devs can relax too, since there is less incoming traffic so no need for upgrades or to discuss all the suggestions for "improving" the website

we already have more users than volunteer admins, no need to overload, there needs to be a massive overhaul in terms of administration procedures and software if this site were to grow larger, the internet is a hostile environment for leftism

community seems to be going well too, no subversion by reactionary tendencies as of yet

no big projects/praxis as of yet (to my knowledge), but plenty of disgruntled users with a bit of free time, promising

hidden archives of forbidden knowledge buried within the site's history, for instance, the xenofeminist manifesto

total site death is unlikely within the next year

lack of ongoing vision for the site means that if it were to die quietly, then there would be no harm done

maybe winter has to pass before spring can arrive

or maybe to slowly fade into history isn't so bad after all, more grass shall be touched irl

either way, we all can only look forward to the future of this site

Sometimes I forget most of y'all are baby posters that never experienced the old internet. This community has enough mass to continue for a long while.

A while back I visited an old forum I posted on 10 years ago and it still has an active community, despite being about the size hex bear is now at its peak back then.

Also I don't think there will be any more mass exoduses like November-April, for better or worse all the people who are stuck around through the big struggle sessions are those most "loyal" to the community

Now that I’m an admin I can’t imagine moderating through the early struggle sessions, they were chaos! I think we’ve all learned a lot as both a site and a mod team.

I think if we can keep getting the watermarked memes out there we'll be good. It will keep getting us some new visitors

Honestly I feel like the site keeps getting better and better idk why I see the doomer posts about it dying. I think the smaller numbers mess with people's heads but the larger social media sites have more people because they suck at moderation and try to appeal to everyone. This is a pretty far left site, we're a niche

There’s been a couple posts in the last week that hit over 200. Our site’s algorithm also moves content a little faster than reddit’s, although I’ve been told by older members of the community that it’s an improvement over the slower one that was there at launch.

Hexbear has a consistent userbase and good content most days. I hope we keep growing either way because this is one of the most unique sites on the net right now.

Lol yeah the sorting at launch was very slow. It left posts up for a while so they could accumulate a lot of upbears, but at the same time whenever you visited there'd be no new posts on your feed. This new system is much much better even though posts are rarely at the top for more than 6 hours or so.

we've just settled into some stability after the rounds of purges in the struggle session era. Engagement seems to be just fine as far as I can tell. it's definitely not dying lol

It's much like a friend that you just don't see as often as you used to, you stop in once in a while, not much happened with them, but they're doing okay

Agreed. I would like a bit more shitposting, but when you guys are on you are on. The horse medicine has been a boon for this, really.
