Hi guys,
I kinda asked this question before but about Europe, and mentioned that my partner and I are interested in moving to a better city than one we live in now. We are both in the US, and based on our jobs etc it seems like more trouble than it's worth/almost impossible to move outside the US at least for the forseeable future.
Now I am interested in the cities that (at least for the US) are the best for leftists/progressives and not just liberals. Whenever I try to search for cities it seems like it caters to the idea of left leaning politics = liberals aka highest % that voted for Biden, highest percentage of LGBTQ and other ways neoliberalism defines progressive, and doesn't differentiate at the very least to more Bernie Sanders-esque "progressive" policies and attitudes.
I was thinking at least a short list would be Seattle, Portland, SF, and maybe Boston (again this is the US so I know none are a socialist utopia or even close to cities in Europe). I'm also looking at "major" cities aka those that have sports teams/are in the top 30 or so for Metropolitan areas, just because 1) we enjoy cities and the perks of those (such as not needing a car and such) and 2) the answers could be much more varied/less of a general consensus if we include every place designated a city.
I have been to all 4 of the cities above, but didn't spend enough time in Portland to really form a solid opinion. I liked all the other cities, and none stood out from an experience point of objectively being better than the other. My partner and I are lucky enough that our jobs pay a combined $200k annually (both office jobs, and my partner suffers from terrible work/life balance and micro managing bosses) so we could afford all the places, but we'd still plan on renting and aren't concerned much in terms of investments/retirement etc since as Millenials we are fucked anyways.
Thanks!
I'm married to one :shrug-outta-hecks:
