I don't have great insurance, so I don't have the ability to shop around exactly. I'm sure a lot of you know the feeling of building up the energy for engagements like this and I'd appreciate some advice on how to navigate things.

Are doctors wary of people looking for stimulants? I'm open to other treatment forms, but I don't want to discount my options.

If you did get a medication prescribed, how did it affect you? Things like if I need to take time off or side effects. If that's too personal, feel free not to answer.

Finally, if you have any general advice on figuring out treatment/therapy, I'd really appreciate that too.

I got burned enough times where I will call and ask places if their psychs are willing to prescribe stimulants — usually prefaced with "I've been taking <stimulant> to manage my adhd, are your providers willing to provide stimulants?" or something

Stimulants have been amazing for me, it's been like glasses for my brain. Haven't really had any side effects either

That's a good bit of advice. I've never tried them, but I wanted to see how they could help me. Like I can manage okay with my tasks, but I'd like to see how much difference they'd make.

They're pretty magical for me — if you're a "need coffee/tea/caffeine to function" type person they'll probably help a ton, in my experience adderall is like a longer-lasting more-helpful stimulants than caffeine that doesn't give me panic attacks

        Good luck, comrade!
