Ian Malcolm was a crank. There was nothing wrong with the science, all of the problems faced by Jurassic Park were a direct result of it being a capitalist venture. In a sane world the dinosaurs would have been released into nature preserves and studied relentlessly for a decade at least before anyone made an attempt to put them into a zoo, but the profit motive drove InGen to try to go straight from the lab to a tourist environment (they also skimped out on a lot of the park's safety features, despite Hammond's insistence that they had "spared no expense" building it).
