also me the fucking nanosecond I stop actively brainstorming it: wow this is so cringe, god this is so dumb, no one's gonna like this, there's no point in writing it, even if it was a good setting i wouldn't be able to do it justice, also im just plagiarizing the 10+ works i derived inspiration from because that's definitely how that works, this is just masked fanfiction for the last works i interacted with lol, i should just stop lol

      Don't sell yourself short. You could very well be writing into a current and resonant movement.

      Writing like you describe doesn't have to be bad, and pretty often it isn't. If you're writing such similar stories, it might be something you can tap into. It's how trends start.

    I always get this feeling when I'm working on something and honestly just try and do it anyways. Who cares if its derivative. If they don't like it they can suck it up.
