As with most "drugs" 90% of the information out there is fear mongering, most of it talking about bad trips not so much physical effects except nausea. Are bad trips and depression really that common? The only other psychedelic I've done is dmt and never had a bad experience so I guess I'm not overly worried but would love some info from people who have used it.

I've taken LSA a few times (mostly hawaiian baby wood rose though not morning glory) and I have to say the only negative aspects of the experiences have been nausea and peripheral vasoconstriction that lasts a full day longer than the perceptual and cognitive effects. Honestly IMO 1plsd and psilocybin are way better because you can get reasonable doses without insane body loads and they can be dosed more consistently.

Yeah seems like mushrooms are better. But morning glories are pretty so I planted an ass ton and now have like 2 cups of seeds.

I tried a couple times as a teen. As far as I know it is a toned down version of the jenkum gag (I understand this isn't necessarily true, but that was my experience). Shit tastes awful and does nothing. Bad time. You're legitimately better off trying Salvia (also a bad time, but at least I got to experience my body splintering into a hundred thousand wasps).

I've also had 'bad' trips on acid and mushrooms, but those bad trips were intelligible. Staying awake for 40 hours THEN dropping acid and watching Scarface on the floor of my friend's bedroom, THEN going to see my inlaws was an AWFUL experience, but it would have still been awful without the acid. Going for a hike, getting covered in DOZENS of ticks, putting it out of my memory, taking shrooms hours later, then finding ticks in my bed was a bad time, but it still would have been a bad time without the shrooms. Other than shit like that, I've had mostly positive experiences. I dropped acid and watched Requiem for a Dream for the first time (literally begging for a 'bad trip' but also possibly the funniest thing I've done in my life) and it wasn't even that bad. The movie was fucking weird, but I didn't have an existential crisis about it.

In general, I noticed my brain making all sorts of weird connections that it wouldn't ordinarily make, and I felt like the experiences were somewhat insightful. I wouldn't describe them as 'pleasant' though. It's a journey. To this day I try to always have a handful of psychedelics on hand, but even when I am bored out of my mind and have nothing to do for 48 hours, I don't look to them as some trivial thing I can do to pass the time.

(this is a shitpost. I'm not lying about anything, but none of this is advice).

I know you said it's a bad time but that sounds fun

despite being on the stronger end, salvia is a good intro to hallucinogens imo, purely because it lasts like 5 minutes

The 420chan /del/ board was a fun read back in my youth so I'll share what I gathered:

    1. Datura (morning glory) is very difficult to dose as the toxins are not evenly distributed throughout the plant. You can take 5 seeds and feel nothing or take two seeds and be gone for two days or worse.
    2. it is a delieriant, not a psychedelic (hence /del/ not /psy/). You will see shit that is not there, think you are in different locations, talk to people who dont exist, etc. It is more like of doing a bunch of benedryl than of shrooms or acid.
    3. It was never described as a "good time". Instead more like some spiritual journey. At best you think youre having a deep conversation with your unborn daughter, when you're really pacing back in forth, leaving a trail of partially chewn doritos on the floor. If you think you're going to chill and listen to some music well actually you're watching family guy for hours, actually the tv has been off this whole time, actually your on your deck and you've broken your favorite bong.

    Have a trip sitter.

Datura (Datura stramonium) and Morning Glory (Ipomoea alba) are two very different plants in completely different taxonomic families. Datura is in the nightshade / Solanaceae family while morning glory is in the bindweed / Convolvulaceae family. what they have in common is that some people use a rather vague common name of "moon flower" to describe their blooms.

if I were going to reference an near authoritative compendia of psychoactive plants on the internet, their processing/use/experiences/chemistry/ethnobotanical info, I would refer people to Erowid. not 4chan.

Lol thanks for the info. I have taken drugs as part of my spiritual practice, and it looks like datura has been used for that for thousands of years, your descriptions makes it sound like it really works. But with that warning I think I'll wait till I'm in a better mental state to give it a try.

I got morning glory mistaken with datura. They aren't the same.

It’s been about a decade since I used them last, but I had a good trip and didn’t experience any depression (on top of what I was already experiencing at the time; “it didn’t make my depression worse” would be more accurate, I guess). I purchased a couple Burpee bags from a gardening store, rinsed off the contents, and ate them.

Took hours to come up, peaked for an hour or so, then hours to come down. Longer trip than acid, but more mellow in my experience. The worst part was the nausea, but that may have been from a coating on the seeds instead of the seeds themselves? Oh, wait. The worst part was the taste, actually.

like lsd but with no color, basically everything went 2D and black and white. also a potent sedative and i had to take it with a stimulant.

duration about 6 hrs and was really, really boring. don't recommend. also your stomach will be cramping the whole time even if you try to extract and purify the LSA

I don't, but I do have experience with Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds, which supposedly contain the same active substance. Oh god was it fucking terrible. Unmistakably psychedelic, just without much in the way of visuals. But it wasn't worth it.

The extreme nausea ruins the entire headspace of the trip, basically. I could not stop myself from throwing up literally every single time I used them, and now even thinking about the smell of HBWR seeds makes me gag.

A few months later I actually got to try some real LSD and the difference was like night and day. Never touching those fucking seeds again
